BIOGRAPHY

Hello! My name is Irina Desmond and I am professional cellist based in the Charles Town, WV area, serving West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. I provide live cello for weddings, proposals, cocktail hours, birthday celebrations, corporate events, sacred services, and memorials.

 

My role is simple: to create a refined, emotionally resonant atmosphere so your event feels elevated, effortless, and unforgettable. My sound blends classical precision with modern elegance, bringing a poised, warm, and quietly captivating presence to both luxury events and intimate gatherings.

 

My background is rooted in rigorous classical training and extensive performance experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and have competed and performed widely. My past performances include the National Symphony of Uzbekistan and the Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Greater Washington and Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. I currently serve as Principal Cellist of the NIH Philharmonia and am a member of Trio Linden. Locally, I’m a regular presence at venues such as the Bavarian Inn, Breaux Vineyards, the Barn of Harpers Ferry, Hotel Washington, and numerous churches and premier wedding destinations in the region.

 

I offer a range of musical formats and styles tailored to your event: from solo cello to curated ensembles. Repertoire includes classical works, popular covers, jazz and blues, and Celtic music, with custom song arrangements available by request. Clients often comment on the seamless process, clear communication, and attention to detail, from ceremony cues to cocktail hour ambiance.

I do this work because I genuinely love the cello and the way music shapes our most meaningful moments.
